Abstract
301,311. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Nov. 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Monoketones are prepared by the action of a carboxylic acid chloride or anhydride and aluminium chloride on a polyhalogen naphthalene with or without a diluent. According to examples, (1) 1: 4-dichloro-8-benzoylnaphthalene is prepared from 1 4-dichloronaphthalene, benzoyl chloride and aluminium chloride either with or without carbon disulphide, as diluent, (2) 8-benzoyl 1 : 5-dichloro-naphthalene is prepared from 1 : 5- dichloronaphthalene, benzoylchloride and aluminium chloride in carbon disulphide, (3) 1 : 4- dichloronaphthalene is condensed with phthalic anhydride in the presence of aluminium chloride and carbon disulphide, (4) 1 : 4-dichloro-8-(pchlorabenzoyl)-naphthalene is prepared from 1 : 4-dichloronaphthalene, p-chlorbenzoylchloride and aluminium chloride with carbon disulphide as diluent, (5) 1 4-dichloro-8-(o-chlorobenzoyl)- naphthalene is similarly prepared from 1 : 4- dichloronaphthalene and o-chlorobenzoylchloride, (6) 1 : 4-dichloro-8-(alpha-naphthoyl)-naphthalene from 1 : 4-dichloronaphthalene and a-naphthoylchloride, (7) 1: 4-dichloronaphthalene is condensed with acetylchloride in the presence of aluminium chloride and carbon disulphide. Specification 16271/10 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following examples : (1) 1 : 4-dichloro-8-(p-toluyl)-naphthalene is made from 1 : 4-dichloronaphthalene, ptoluic acid chloride, aluminium chloride in presence of carbon disulphide, (2) 1 : 4-dichloronaphthalene is condensed with o-toluylchloride, (3) 1 : 4-dibromonaphthalene with benzoylchloride, and (4) 1 : 5-dichloronaphthalene with phthalic anhydride in presence of aluminium chloride and carbon disulphide. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
