Abstract
2 : 3-Thionaphthisatin-a -derivatives and 2 : 3-thionaphthisatin are obtained by processes similar to those described in the parent Specification for 2 : 1-thionaphthisatin, namely, by replacing the methylene hydrogen atoms of 2 : 3-naphthioindoxyl by an easily removable radicle such as an arylimide group, or by halogen, and then saponifying, for instance, by means of an organic or inorganic acid. In an example, 2 : 3-naphthioindoxyl is condensed with p-nitroso-dimethylaniline and the 2 : 3-thionaphthisatin-a -(41-dimethylamino)-anil hydrolysed with sulphuric acid of 60 per cent strength.
