Abstract

1 : 7-Dihydroxynaphthalene is prepared by heating 2-8-dihydroxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid, 2-8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3-6-disulphonic acid, 7 - amino - 1 - hydroxynaphthalene-3-sulphonic acid or 7-amino-1-hydroxynaphthalene-3-6-disulphonic acid with dilute acid under pressure. The examples describe the use of sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, and orthophosphoric acid.
