Abstract
Arylidoquinones are prepared by the action of air or oxygen under pressure upon solutions or suspensions containing hydroquinones of the benzene or naphthalene series and aromatic amines. In an example a mixture of hydroquinone, aniline, and water, is treated at 50 DEG C. in an autoclave fitted with a stirrer with air at 20-25 atmospheres pressure for 40-60 hours; the pure 2 : 5-dianilidoquinone is isolated by filtration.
