Diaminoanthraquinones; 2-(3<1>: 4<1>-diaminobenzoyl) benzoic acid.-By reduction of 2-(3<1>-nitro-4<1>- aminobenzoyl) benzoic acid, preferably by means of iron powder and dilute acetic acid, 2-(3<1> :4<1>- diaminobenzoyl)-benzoic acid is produced. 2-(3<1>- Amino-4<1>-alkyl or arylaminobenzoyl)-benzoic acid may be similarly prepared starting with appropriate parent material. The products yield 1 : 2- and 2 : 3-diaminoanthraquinones on treatment with concentrated sulphuric acid.
