Abstract

288,927. Imray, O. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Nov. 22, 1927. Naphthoquinone derivatives. - 2: 3-Dichlor- 1 : 4-naphthoquinone is nitrated by using a mixture of nitric and sulphuric acids. The product, which crystallizes in two different forms when glacial acetic acid and alcohol are used as solvents is probably the 2 : 3-dichlor-8-nitro-1 : 4- naphthoquinone. Examples of the nitration process are given in the Specification.
