Abstract

Amino-chlorbenzoylbenzoic acids and aminochloranthraquinones therefrom are obtained by treating dichlorbenzoylbenzoic acids, obtainable by condensing a dichlorphthalic anhydride in the customary manner with benzene, with ammonia or methylamine, to replace one atom of chlorine, and subsequently ring-closing the product. According to examples, the dichlorbenzoylbenzoic acids obtained by condensing 3 : 4- and 4 : 5-dichlorphthalic anhydride with benzene, are treated with ammonia and the products ring-closed to give the corresponding aminochloranthraquinones. Methylamine as aminating agent is also exemplified.
