Abstract
307,798. Knoll Akt.-Ges. Chemische Fabriken, and Schmidt, K. F. March 18, 1928, [Convention date]. Amines are prepared from organic acids or anhydrides of organic acids, by treating with hydrazoic acid in the presence of sulphuric acid. The following examples are specified : (1) Aniline is prepared from benzoic acid and benzylamine from phenylacetic acid by treating with hydrazoic acid in presence of sulphuric acid and chloroform. (2) Tetramethylene- and pentamethylenediamine are similarly prepared from adipic acid and d-leucine respectively and isolated as benzoyl compounds. (3) Methylamine is obtained from acetic anhydride as in example 1. Specifications 176,038, 250,897 and 252,460 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the preparation of amines from derivatives of organic acids in general in the presence of catalysts. In examples : (1) aniline is prepared from benzoic acid ethyl ester, (2) benzoyl chloride is treated with hydrazoic acid, chloroform and tin tetrachloride and the resulting phenylisocyanide is converted into aniline bv means of caustic potash. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
