Drum or barrel winding-machines ; geared motor-driven pulley-hoists.-The drum F and its integral side E form with the detachable side E<1> a casing which contains lubricant and has positioned within it a detachable cradle D carrying the shafts and pinions of the reduction gear. The cradle comprises two circular side plates which are connected by three or more detachable crossstays A serving as shafts for the toothed wheels. The drum is suspended from the beam T of a travelling trolley by members M, O, of which the latter forms a casing for the motor, and the former, together with a domed cover plate N. forms a casing enclosing the brake, starter, end of travel switch, &c. The cradle is keyed to the suspension members at X in order to prevent its rotation. The parts are held together by rods W.
