Cellulose esters; preparatory treatment of cellulose.-Cellulose to be used in the manufacture of cellulose esters, particularly cellulose acetate. is preliminarily treated as paper in sheet form with glacial acetic acid. The paper thus impregnated with acetic acid can be rolled up again and fed continuously into the acylation vessel.
