Abstract

524,736. Carroting fur fibres. GIULIANO, A. P. Aug. 14, 1939, No. 23393. [Class 76] Fur fibres are carroted by treatment with a solution containing a phospho - tungstic or phospho - molybdic acid and an acid or alkali in an amount sufficient to give a pH of less than 3 or more than 13. Derivatives of the phospho-tungstic and phosphomolybdic acids such as chloro and aceto derivatives and their salts and esters may be employed. Suitable acids for giving solutions of low pH value are citric, oxalic, tartaric, nitric, sulphuric, hydrochloric, hydrobromic and perchloric, which may be employed in suitable combination with or without the addition of hydrogen peroxide.
