Abstract

Alternating-current induction machines. - A non-contact-making relay of the type in which primary and secondary electromagnetic systems are inductively coupled by eddy currents generated in a rotating metallic mass comprises a series of field magnets 11 - - 16 which are fed with the signal to be amplified and between the horse-shoe pole-pieces of which is a constantly running metal disc 1, and a series of armature magnets 17 - - 17<a> - - 22, arranged in pairs between the field magnets on opposite sides of the disc and from which the amplified current is obtained. The field and armature coils instead of being connected in series, as shown, may be connected in parallel or series-parallel. When the device is used as a generator, the field magnets are excited by a series, parallel or seriesparallel connection with the armature magnets.
