Rotary machines; motors with unwound iron armatures. - In an electrically-operated windscreen cleaner in which the wiper arm is oscillated by means of a rotating armature the shaft b of which is provided with a cam a for actuating spring contacts d, e, means are provided whereby the contacts can be separated independently of the cam. As shown, the shaft b is slotted to receive a pin h secured to a slidable finger piece g which is pressed outwardly by a spring j. The finger piece, when pressed inwardly, engages a projection k on a contact blade f and separates the contacts d, e, the end of the projection seating in a groove I. An additional resilient projection m may be provided for engagement in the groove l.
