Abstract

663,331. Electromagnetic switches. LAURENCE, SCOTT, & ELECTROMOTORS, Ltd., and FITZGERALD, J. A. G. Aug. 23, 1950. [Aug. 26, 1949] No. 22252/49. Class 38 (v). In a shock-proof relay or contactor, the armature consists of a rotary balanced member such as the rotor of an electric motor which is limited in its movement by shoulders 10 on a stop disc engaging a fixed pin 18, is biased by a return spring 14 and operates the contacts through a cam 8 embraced by a yoke 20 mounted on a contact block assembly 21 pivoted at 22. The rotor can move through nearly 180 degrees against the action of the return spring 14, thereby bring a spring blade contact 26 into engagement with a fixed contact 27.
