Stoppers, bayonet-joint.-A closure device for canisters or other metal containers comprises a ring 3 rotatably secured about the neck 1 of the container and adapted when rotated to press a closure member 7 down on to its seating through the action of cam surfaces on either the closure member or the ring or on both of them. Inturned projections 6 on the ring 3 pass up notches 9, which separate cam portions 8 in the closure member 7, and engage the cam portions when the ring is rotated, rotation of the closure member being prevented by a nose 10 on the neck 1 engaging in one of the notches 9. The ring 3 may be extended to form a pouring spout 4. When the ring 3 presses the closure 7 firmly on its seat the outer end of the spout 4 engages beneath a hoop on the canister to permit the spout to be used as a carrying handle.
