Acetic acid.-In the extraction of acetic acid from aqueous solutions by treating the vapour with solvents of higher boiling-point than acetic acid as described, in the parent case, esters of cyclic carboxylic acids with mono- or polyvalent a7cohols are employed as solvents. The esters mentioned are the 11wth<y>l, eU1Yl. and butyl esters of the naphthene acids and of phthalic acid, and hexyl, heptyl, glycol and glycerine esters of phthalic acid. Specification 218,271 is referred to.
