Abstract

Cigarette-making machines.-In a device for delivering cigarettes from a continuous rod machine in separate batches, the cigarettes of each batch having their corresponding ends disposed in the same direction, rotating vanes 1, 2 such as are described in Specification 272,997 are driven by means which allow the tuning of the vanes to be adjusted in relation to the rest of the machine whilst the machine is running. As shown, the shaft 3 carrying the vanes 1, 2 is driven from a shaft 7 through helical gears 4, 5 the gear 5 being adjustable axially on the shaft 7 by means of a lever 10 carrying a slide 12 engaging a groove 9 in the gear 5. The lever 10 has a slot in engagement with a screw by which it can be secured in adjusted position.
