Abstract

411,674. Cigarette-making machines. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(American Machine & Foundry Co.; 511, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) May 22, 1933, No. 14784. [Class 130.] The tobacco hopper 10 is provided with a rotatable feed drum 20 and with a levelling device comprising a rotatable shaft 11 provided with concavo-convex blades 13 extending continuously across the hopper and serving to wipe back excess tobacco from the mass above the feed drum without scattering it. As shown, the shaft 11 is driven by sprocket gearing 14 .. 16 from the shaft 17 of the drum 20 and rotates in bearings adjustable along an arcuate path concentric with the axis of the drum. A filler drum 22 is provided, and tampers 19 may be operated as described in Specification 411,673.
