Abstract

275,739. Molins, W. E. May 17, 1926. Cigarette - making machines; cigarette-tipping machines. - The tipping and printing mechanism of a continuous-rod machine is driven from the main drive through mechanism which is disengaged, and re-engaged in phase, by movement of a pivoted frame 4, carrying the printing and tipping mechanism. The drive is through discs 28, 31 and connecting means comprise a spring-pressed pin 32 which engages a hole or slot 29. The tipping and printing mechanism, which is described in Specifications 251,322 and 259,684, comprises rollers 1 - - 3 which are driven from the main shaft 14, on which the disc 28 is mounted, through bevel gearing 11 - - 13 and doctor blades which are reciprocated by an eccentric and levers 25 - 27.
