Abstract

2656. Boult, A. J., [Palmowsky, S.]. Feb. 2. Cigarette - tipping machines.- Cigarettes to be fed to the tipping - mechanism are contained in a hopper 105, whence they are carried by an endless band 106, driven through the " time - sprocket " 115, to a pair of toothed wheels 120 from which they are carried and presented to the tipping-mechanism by conveying-rails 130 in conjunction with a table 131. The hopper is provided with a door 107 operated by a cam 112 and levers 108, 109, and the toothed wheels 120, are operated by means of a ratchetwheel 122 and pawl 123 through a disk 125, crank 124, and cam 127. The conveying-rails 130 are mounted in a slide 132, the bearing of which is carried by a vertically-reciprocating shaft 134 operated by means of a roller 137 and cam 138. The horizontal movement is accomplished by means of a lever 139 pivoted to a cam-disk 140. A ram is provided for positioning the cigarettes.
