[Class 130.] To compensate for wear in cutting- mechanism of continuous-rod machines, the knife d is advanced by pressure on the end of a sleeve q. A pawl thereupon rotates a ratchet wheel on a shaft k carrying a worm i. The worm wheel h. drives friction rollers f, g which grip the opposite sides of the knife, or a plate &c. to which the knife is secured.
