Abstract
292,852. Korn, H. Dec. 10, 1927. Working-fluid supply.-A hydraulic turbine installation comprises two or more rotors C, J on the shaft of a generator W, a rotor N which may drive a pump B, and sluices Q, R, L, E, by which the path of flow of the water may be determined. The rotor N is normally inoperative. When the head of water is high, and the volume small, the water is passed through the rotors C, J in series; with medium heads, through the rotor J alone; and with low heads and large volumes, through the rotors C, J in parallel. When the head is very low, the sluice R of the rotor N is opened, and the pump B increases the head of the water passed to the rotors C, J, the direct passage of water to these rotors being stopped by the sluice Q. The rotors C, J may utilize different proportions of the total head.
