Coin action, thrust and multiple-coin.-A coinholder mechanism for gas and similar meters. particularly for use with coins of more than one size or value and adapted for the operation of a measuring wheel having peripheral teeth, comprises a diametrical casing a, Figs. 1 and 2, carried by a disc b rotatable by a handle b<1> on the inside of a price-changing disc c. The chamber for the coin is defined by a plate f adjustable according to the value of the coin to be used, and by the bent end d<3> of a plate d slidable on the outside of the casing a, the other inturned end d<1> of the plate engaging in a slot a<4> in the casing and having a tooth d<2> for engagement with the teeth of a measuring wheel e. A coin inserted through a slot c<1> in the pricechanger engages the plate f and the end d' thereby sliding the plate d against the action of a spring g to bring the tooth d<2> into engagement with the measuring wheel. The spring, g is anchored to a hook d<6> on the plate d and to a pin a<3> on the casing protruding through a slot d<5> in the plate. The plate f has an enlarged portion to engage in either of two cross-slots a<2>. To adjust it, it is pulled against the action of a spring f<3> and then moved along vertical slots a'. The coin holder mechanism may be used with the adjustable measuring-out mechanism described in Specification 258,367. Coin-discharging mechanism.-At the end of a revolution by the handle b', the casing a comes against a stop h<6> and the end d<3> of the plate d meets a stop h<5>, so that the plate is swung laterally about the end a<4> of the casing against the action of the spring f<3>. This allows the coin to drop through an outlet h<4>.
