Counters actuated by revolving mechanism; stop mechanism.-The device described in Specification 298,099 is modified to render it more suitable for use in gas meters of the open top type by forming the spindle carrying the slotted disc e operating the gas inlet valve e<2> in two telescoping parts f<1>, f<2>, the part f<2> being mounted in a gas-tight bearing f<4> provided in the fixed wall A<1> of a casing enclosing the mechanism and the part f<1> carrying the worm-wheel c<2> and pointer a being movable axially against the resistance of a spring f<3> when the pointer a is to be re-set relatively to the stop-pin on the pointer d. A pin h on the worm wheel c<2> engages a slotted disc g on the part f<2> so that the two parts of the spindle rotatetogether.
