227,601. Sutherland Meter Co., Ltd., and King, F. H. W'. Dec. 17, 1923. Coin action, thrust. - In prepayment, mechanism for gas meters, a coin 17, Fig. 5, inserted through a slot in a price-change disc into a rotary coin carrier 5 engages the top 18 of the coin mechanism casing and depresses a cam plate 13 in the bottom of the carrier. The carrier is formed from a strip of metal doubled on itself and has on its outside a sliding plate 8 connected to the cam 13 by a pin 15 which works in slots 7 in the sides of the carrier. The plate 8 has a tooth 9 to engage between the teeth of a wheel 12 to set this forward when the carrier is rotated,. the tooth being normally kept out of engagement. with the wheel by a coiled spring 16, Fig. 4, connected to the pin 15 and to a pin 6 on the carrier passing through a slot in the plate 8.
