Gas, supplying by meter. - In screw-and-nut valve-controlling mechanism as described in Specification 21721/11, the travelling sleeve nut i, Fig. 1, slides through and is rotated on prepayment by a pinion k held between brackets g, h and projecting into the casing a containing the coin-mechanism. The pinion is driven by crown teeth c<5> on the back of the measuring-wheel c, which has crown teeth c<3> on its opposite face for engagement by the coin and is mounted on the back of the casing, free rotation being prevented by a spring washer c<2>. The nut i, mounted on a screw p revolved by the meter, has a groove engaged by a forked plate l<1> operating the valve lever m and carrying a rod l which actuates a pointer l<2> to indicate the amount of gas prepaid. An arm l<4> carried by the rod l has a pin which protrudes through the bracket h to lock the pinion k when the maximum number of coins have been inserted. Coin-action, mechanical-connection.-The coin inserted through a slot in a front plate d into a carrier l<2> formed by a doubled strip of metal and rotated by a handle b<1>, couples the carrier to the measuring-wheel c by engagement with the teeth c<3>, Fig. 3, until the coin meets a discharge stop a<3>. The coin-slot, plate d. and handle b<1> are disposed on the front of the meter. Price-changing mechanism.-The plate d having a back stop d<1> for the carrier b<2> is adjustable for varying prices of gas, being held by a pin a<2>, Fig. 1, engaging peripheral teeth and by two retaining hooks e, e', Fig. 3, of which the hook e<1> is detachable. Fraud, preventing .-The carrier b<2> has a pin n slidable in lugs b<4>and adapted to be pressed forward into engagement with the teeth c<3> to lock the measuring-wheel, by an incline on the stop d<1> when the coin-pocket is in register with the coin-slot.
