Registering.-A gasmeter in which a measuring wheel or shaft is rotated in one .direction to turn on supply and in the opposite direction by the registering-mechanism for cutting off supply when the prepaid quantity is consumed, is fitted with a lever which is moved in the plane of the coin-holder to register the passage of the coin. For this purpose, the rotation of the coin-holder, after insertion of the coin, carries the coin past the cam-shaped end b<2> of, and rocks, a lever b pivoted at a<1> on the fixed cam plate a of the mechanism, and the lever acts through a rod d extending into the meter casing to operate a bellcrank e pivoted on a slide f and engaging a ratchet wheel k on a spindle j extending through the casing and carrying a pointer movable over a dial to register the coin value, e.g. a penny. The central part of the spindle j is formed as a wheel to drive a wheel l<1> on a spindle l with a pointer to register shillings, and the spindle l drives through the wheel m<1> a spindle m with a pointer to register pounds. The plate k slides on fixed studs g and is retracted by a spring n.
