Abstract

292,437. Ambler, S. Feb. 7, 1928. Spindle apparatus. - In spindle apparatus of the kind described in Specification 258,162 wherein a cap tube is carried by a bearing on the top part of a stationary spindle mounted in a lifter rail, the bearing being lubricated from an oil well carried by the spindle below the wharl, the tube T is extended above the bearing B to form a reservoir R for lubricant which is closed by an apertured cap R' to prevent expulsion of the lubricant by centrifugal force. Normally when the tube is rotating, lubricant ascends the spiral S' in the spindle from the well C, and the surplus enters the reservoir through a. hole B<1> in the bearing and returns when the tube is stationary. The apparatus is used with a stationary ring A adjustably mounted as described in the Specification above referred to.
