Class 110(1) [Also in Group XXXIV] Spinning spindle mechanism or other mechanism including a substantially vertically-arranged rotatable spindle in combination with a lubricating device. comprises a rotatable tube 1 the lower end of which is immersed in lubricant H and is surrounded by a fixed cup-shaped member 2 formed with a hole o of smaller area than that of the cross section of the tube 1. whereby when the tube is rotated at a sufficient speed the lubricant rises along the inner wall of the tube. In the arrangement shown a bobbin-carrying spindle 5 rests at its lower end in a journal member 6 capable of slight displacements in the support of the mechanism and subjected to the action of a centering spring 7. At the top the spindle 5 is coupled to the tube 1 through means permitting slight oscillatory displacements of the spindle. Oil passing up the tube 1 may be conveyed through a radial passage 10 to the worm 4 and worm wheel 3 driving the spindle 5, or it may pass further upwards to lubricate an upper bearing in which the spindle 5 is guided.
