Channels in vertical shaft bearings.-A self-lubricating spindle for spinning or doubling frames comprises a tapered spindle a' fitting closely and continuously in a pillar h formed with an opening h<2> near its lower end and a grooved enlargement h* at its upper end. Oil from a cup g enters the opening h<2>, rises in the pillar h, overflows and returns to the cup through grooves h<3> and the annular space between the pillar h and bolster c. A continuous circulation of oil is maintained whilst the spindle is running. The cup g is screwed either on to the bolster c or nut f, and a ring makes an oil-tight joint.
