Abstract
422,391. Lubricating. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleminggatan, Stockholm. May 18, 1934, No. 15113. Convention date, May 18, 1933. [Class 12 (ii)] [See also Group II] In a centrifugal separator with peripheral outlets 4 to which sludge is conducted by a conveyer in the bowl, the bearing nearest to the bowl is supplied with lubricating oil from a pump or an elevated container. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the oil is conducted from the container 13 by the pipe 16 fitted with an observation glass 14 and valve 15. It passes through the bearing 11 to the trough 17 and thence by the pipe 17a to the oil-bath 30. A branch pipe 18 conveys oil to a bore 19 in the bottom of the frame from which it passes through the axially movable sleeve 20 and the channel 23 in the shaft 9 to the bearing 24, the gear housing 8, and the bearing 25 between the conveyer spindle 5 and the bowl spindle 6. It then passes through the channel 26, the trough 27, and the pipe 29 to the oil-bath 30. The oil overflows from the bath 30 through the bearing 12 and is returned to the container 13 by a pump. In a modification the shaft 9 is provided with a helical thread which acts to pump oil from the bath upwards through the gear housing and the bearings between the bowl and conveyer spindles until it is dropped on to the bearing 11 with the oil from the pipe 16. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the modification shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled) in which the resilient buffers 41 of the bearing 11 have channels 42 corresponding to channels 43 in the bearing so that oil can be supplied under pressure through the pipe 16 to the surface 44. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
