Abstract
817,347. Lubricating bearings. WALDRON, F. B. Aug. 20, 1957, No. 26194/57. Classes 12 (1) and 12 (3). [Also in Group XXII] In a lubricating system for a thrust bearing 18 and a stem bearing 19 of a mushroom-shaped spindle 16 carrying a table 11 of a machine tool, the space 22 located between the bearings 18, 19 is fed continuously with oil under pressure. The oil is supplied from a pump 20 through a conduit 21 to the space 22. That oil which reaches the bottom of the bearing 19 is delivered to a channel 24 through a conduit 23 and the oil passing through the thrust bearing 18 also passes into the channel 24 from which the oil flows through holes 25, 26 to an oil sump 27 to be recirculated by the oil pump 20. An oil filter 28 is disposed on the suction side of the pump 20. The table 11 is driven through a ring gear 12, pinion 13, bevel gears 14 and a gear-box 15.
