Abstract

3906. Morris, R. Feb. 16. Spinning spindle type, lubricating.-The bolster bearing carries an adjustable footstep, and is lubricated from a cup carried by the bolster case, the cap of the oil-cup engaging a lip on the wharl to prevent longitudinal displacement of the latter and to exclude dust from the bearing. The foot-step c<1> is adjusted by means of a screw c in the bolster, which is perforated and is lubricated through holes I from the oil cup h, preferably formed integral therewith and with thin sides, the cap N, secured by screwing or by a set-screw s, Fig. 5, taking over the lip L of the wharl. The oil-opening in the cap N terminates below the bottom of the wharl to prevent contact of the latter with the oil, and is provided with a valve, consisting of a cylindrical metal piece with a resilient arm and lip 6. The bolster is pro. vided with grooves at its upper end to allow of the circulation of the lubricant, and with a pin e to prevent rotation.
