16,527. Hollinrake, J., [Spence, H.]. Aug. 15. Lubricating; bearings for spinning - spindles. Relates to high - speed spindles and the method of lubricating them. The spindle 1 rotates in a bearing-tube 3 secured to the bolster rail 4 by a set-screw 5. Fitting over this stationary bearing 3 is a rotating tube 6 driven by a projection 7 on the central spindle 1. The tube 6 forms a " live surface on which the bobbin is placed and controlled by the usual drag - washers. A projection 15 on the flyer engages with grooves 12, 13 in the spindle so that the flyer can only be removed by giving it a partial turn. Lubricant is supplied through the hole 16 and works to the top of the bearing 3, where it is thrown outwards and descends against the inner wall of tune tube 6.
