Abstract

345,097. Force-feed lubricating. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Flem. inggatan, Stockholm. March 20, 1930, No. 8940. Convention date, March 22, 1929. [Class 12 (iii).] In a centrifugal separator wherein the bowl 1 is carried on a tubular shaft 2 running on ball bearings carried by a rod 3 secured to the frame, a hand pump 9 is adapted to force oil, which is drawn through a channel 6 from an oilbath 4 in the frame, through a passage 8 into a longitudinal channel in the rod 3 opening into the shaft 2 above the upper bearing. Surplus oil returns to the bath through outlets 10 arranged below the lower bearing. Oil leaking above the piston is returned to the bath through a channel 7 on the outward movement of the piston. The channel 6 opens into the upper part of the bath 4. Alternatively, the pump may be supplied from an auxiliary reservoir into which oil is splashed from the main bath when the machine is running.
