Abstract

658,014. Oscillating-cylinder pumps. FISCHER, T. July 13, 1949, No. 18531. Convention date, July 13, 1948. [Class 102(i)] [Also in Group XXXIV] An oscillating-cylinder pump comprising a cylinder 11 secured to a pivot 10, and piston 12 which is articulated to crank pin 9 by means of a connecting rod 13 is lubricated by oil scraped from a gear wheel 5 by a scraper 21 and fed through a tube 18 to an outlet 19. The outlet 19 is arranged to be out of the centre line of the crank shaft and the journal 10 of the cylinder 11. In the centre positions of the crank, oil enters a cup shaped cavity in the head 23 for lubrication of the pin 9, and as the crank 8 rotates, the oil drips past the head 23 and lubricates the piston 12, Fig. 3. In the extreme lateral position of the crank, the lubricant falls into a passage 14 and lubricates the pivot 10.
