Abstract

291,835. Nielsen, H. Feb. 25, 1927. Operating clutches.-In rotary refrigerating- apparatus, revoluble bearing-blocks 2, 3 are pressed by springs 5, 4 against stationary friction surfaces 7, 6, the block 3 having a cam-nose 3<a> contacting with an arm 8<a> of a bell-crank clutch lever 8, which is held in the clutch-engaged position by a spring 9 coacting with a notch 8<c> therein. It is stated that, on excessive speed, the increased friction between the shaft and bearings causes them to rotate and so partially release the clutch, the spring 9 reacting on the cam 3<a> to restore the block 3 when the speed falls.
