Single-acting suction - valveless piston pumps.-A lubricating can or oil pump comprises a reservoir 1 closed at the top by a cap 2 recessed at 2d to form a seating for the spring-controlled piston 11. The latter works in a barrel 7 terminating in a duct 8 and nipple 9 which is applied to the point to be oiled to which lubricant is supplied by pushing the reservoir downwards so that it slides on the barrel 7. When the hand pressure is removed the reservoir moves back automatically under the action of the spring and the barrel is recharged from the reservoir. The barrel is held in the reservoir by a union 5 which permits the whole of the pump to be removed as a unit from the reservoir when the latter is to be refilled. When the barrel is pressed into the reservoir a closure stud 12 may be applied to the nut 13.
