Abstract

288,715. Turner, S. N. Jan. 12, 1927. Letter-boxes; collecting - boxes. - A coincollecting or letter box comprises a receptacle a, Fig. 9, which is provided with a hopper-shaped casing c<3> positioned below a diagonally-arranged coin slot a<1> in the top thereof and with a wedgeshaped pocket e<1> eccentrically pivoted to the casing at e and having its upper open end beneath said coin slot and its lower open end adapted to coincide with the lower open end c<1> of the casing c<3> upon the insertion of a coin. The opening c<1> is controlled by a pivoted baffle plate d<2>, while other fixed baffle plates d are carried on a casing d<3> arranged below said opening c<1>. In order to empty the receptacle a hinged lid or sliding panel a<2> is provided which may be fastened in place by a rod g having a seal g<1>. In a modification, Fig. 1, the wedge-shaped pocket b comprises a weighted cylinder which is pivoted at b<1> and is provided with an extension b<4>, two other slight modifications of the construction are also described.
