Abstract

287,634. Southorne, W. H. Dec 23, 1926. Spokes, securing.-The wheel hubs of baby carriages &c. consist of a tubular shell 1 and flanged cup-shaped members secured thereto by pressing so as to form a spoke flange 3 and a bearing 4 for a plain bearing-ring 6. The other part of the bearing 11 is mounted on a second tubular shell having an enlargement 8 at one end and a screwed part 9 at the opposite end. A flat 16 is for med on the inner shell for engagement with a corresponding flat on the axle. The bearing 11 has castellations for a cotter pin 17 and is screwed to take a dust-cap 14. A press-fit dust-cap may be applied to the cup 2 surrounding the conical bearing, and a gauze, ring to restrict the flow lof oil may be applied to the bearings on the inner side. The nut 9 is castellated and secured by a cotter from passing through the shell 10 and axle 15. The dust-cap 14 has an internal screwed ring 23 which is adjusted to give minimum clearance between the nut and member 2. The bearing ring 6 may be of quarter circular section with a flange 11<1> to position it in the cup 4.
