Abstract
286,549. English, J. R. Aug, 18, 1927. Plug couplings. - A resilient socket a of the kind that is split longitudinally and surrounded by a blade spring/, has the spring coiled round the socket and comprising more than one convolution. The recess c in which the spring lies is eased off at the point where the socket is split to prevent the spring from binding. A lead is attached bv a channel member fitting over the flat end h, Fig. 4, of the socket and tightened thereon by a stud screwed into a hole h<1>. Alternatively the lead is gripped between jaws j, k, Fig. 5, formed respectively on a projection l on the socket and on a sleeve m adjustable thereon. The socket is suitable for use in the coupling described in Specification 286,344.
