Abstract

Magnets.-In moving- coil instruments such as ammeters and voltmeters of the type in which the moving coil is pivoted in jewelled bearings, the permanent magnet is in the form of a closed figure with internally-projecting integral poles betweer. the curved faces of which is located the moving coil, the axis of the coil being at right-angles to the plane of the magnet. Two forms are shown in Figs. 1 and 4, hut the peripheral portion may be rectangular or elliptical. The magnets may be solid or laminated. Specification 9349/96, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], is referred to.
