Abstract

285,498. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). Feb. 18, 1927, [Convention date]. Steam supply, method of.-In a steam-power plant using superheated steam, superheat is withdrawn from the steam during partial load and stored up and used for the generation of steam which is supplied to the main for rising load. Steam is generated in a boiler A, passed through a superheater B, and led to a turbine C through a main service pipe V. In parallel with the part V' of pipe V is a pipe N and a flow-through chamber U of a superheat accumulator U. A valve O in pipe V1 closes and opens with rise and fall of pressure respectively. A constantpressure, hot-water accumulator E is connected by a pipe D to the pipe V between the superheater B and the pipe N, and to the boiler feed S. A valve in the pipe D is controlled by the pressure in the pipe V. A flow-through chamber U2 for water is arranged in the accumulator U and is connected to the accumulator E and to the pipe V through a valve R controlled by the pressure therein. The accumulator chamber U3 is filled with water or other liquid with a high boiling point. The water in chamber U2 is directed in an atomized condition through nozzles D1 against the partition wall W of the chamber U and thereby vaporized. With falling load, steam first passes into chamber U to heat the storage agent in the chamber U3. With a further fall, the valve O closes and steam passes to the water accumulator E. With a rise of load, the valve in pipe D is first closed, then the valve O is opened. If a further increase in load causes a fall in pressure in pipe V1 the valve R opens, and water passes to chamber U2 and the steam therefrom to pipe V.
