Abstract

855,269. Feedwater heating systems. SULZER FRERES S.A. April 15, 1959 [April 21, 1958], No. 12859/59. Class 64(1) A steam power plant comprises a feed water vessel 1, a feed pump 2, a high pressure feed water heater 3, a steam generator 4 feeding, through a superheater 6, a turbine 9 from which condensate is returned as feedwater through heaters 22 to 26, which are heated by tapped steam from the turbine. Between the vaporizing and superheating surfaces of the boiler fluid is extracted by the device 5 to pass through separators 14, 15, 16 and thence through feed water heater 26 to a salts removal plant 17 whence it returns to the condenser 10. The saturated steam evolved in the separators 14 to 16 passes into the steam tapping pipes 29, 30, 31 for mixing with the superheated tapped steam from the turbine. When the apparatus is starting up water from the extraction device 5 by-passes the separators through valve 12. In a modification saturated steam from the separator 14 passes into the high pressure feed water heater 3 and the condensate accumulating therein passes into the separator 16 for further expansion.
