Abstract
285,064. Akt.-Ges. f³r Kohlensõure- Industrie, and Auerbach, E. B. Feb. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 277,946. Extracting and purifying essential, fatty, mineral, resin,. and tar oils, and fats.-The process of purifying and fractionating mineral oils by means of liquid carbon dioxide as described in the parent Specificatoin is applied to the treatment of mixtures of mineral oils with other substances, and to fats and fatty oils, essential oils, resin oils, tar oils, terpenes and other liquid hydrocarbons, and ketone oils. In examples (1) 20-30 per cent of light oil is obtained by treating coal tar with 3 weight units of liquid carbon dioxide; (2) 5 lb. of crude rape oil is treated with 5 lb. of liquid dioxide; small quantities of an ethereal oil smelling of hay are dissolved out; (3) 5 lb. of lamp oil consisting of equal weights of petroleum and rape oils is treated in several operations with 11-16 1b. of liquid dioxide. 2.5 1b. of rape oil remains, and 2.4 lb. of petroleum is obtained from the solution.
