Abstract

281,128. Peter, W. J. Feb. 1, 1927. Direct liquid-pressure apparatus.-Apparatus for storing oil and delivering it by means of pressure water comprises a tank 1 for the oil connected by a pipe 3 to one or more discharge nozzles at different levels, and by pipes 4, 5 to a water supply 6. The oil passes from the pipe 3 through a pipe 13, meter 14, and valve 24 to a hose 15, which is normally supported on a hook 40 on the meter panel. The water pipe 5 has a valve 18 which automatically closes when the apparatus is not working, and is opened by a solenoid 20 when a switch 23 is closed by the removal of the hose from its hook. The hook is mounted on a pin 44 pivoted in a sleeve 39 fixed to the panel and! is turned upwards slightly by a spring 45 when the hose is removed. This movement disengages' a latch 51 from a latch 36 on an arm 34 fixed to a spindle 29 which may be turned by depressing an arm 33 to open the spring-pressed valve 24. As the arm 34 rises, it lifts the rod 35 and closes the switch 23, thereby opening the valve 18. A latch 50 on the end of the rod 44 engages a latch 37 on the arm and - prevents the valves 24, 18 from closing. When the hose is replaced on the hook, the hook falls and is moved laterally by engagement between the cam surfaces 47, 48, thereby disengaging the latch 50 from the latch 37. The spring 27 then closes the valve 24, depressing the arms 34, 35 and closing the valve 18. The tank may be connected to a waste. pipe 8 by a hand-operated valve 9.
