Direct air-pressure apparatus, non- automatic.-In a plant for dispensing liquids by air pressure, liquid passes from a storage tank 9, Fig. 1, through a non-return valve 14, Fig. 2, into a chamber 11 when the latter is not under pressure; subsequent introduction of compressed air forces liquid through a pipe 63, air-release fitting 72, and pipes 82, 83, 84 to the fittings 30, 31. The valve 14 is carried by a casting 18 screwed into place and removable from the exterior of the tank 9 by a rod 22. The fittings 30, 31 are provided with operating levers 40, the raising of a lever 40 acting through a link 48, Fig. 4, rod 50, lever 52, and spindle 54 to open a valve 57 to place conduits 33, 28 into communication for the admission of compressed air to the chamber 11. When the lever is lowered, the valve 57 is closed and a valve 123 opened to put the chamber 11 to exhaust through conduits 28, 38. Operation of the lever 40 to open the valve 57 simultaneously through a link 101 opens a valve 91 to permit the liquid to flow through a metering device to a delivery hose 97. The hose nozzle may have an outlet valve opened by a lever 110, or a hand-operated valve 115 is provided. When the hose is out of use, it may be inserted through a hole in the casing 46 ; a plate 119 carries a stop member 121 which prevents movement of the plate and the insertion of the hose when the lever 40 is raised, but wnen the lever is down, the plate is moved by the hose nozzle so that the stop member takes up a position to prevent lifting of the lever. The compressed air system has a diaphragm-controlled reducing valve 127 and safety valves 141, the latter comprising a member 145, Fig. 8, loaded by a spring 146 adjustable by a screw 149. Sediment may be forced out of the chamber 11 through a pipe 158 after removing a plug 156.
