Abstract

119,955. Morgan, J. Dec. 21, 1917. Lift valves; actuating-mechanism. - A threeway valve for preventing damage to stand, house, &c. pipes by frost comprises a valve 19 so arranged that when the outlet 18 from the supply pipe 12 is closed, as shown, the water in the delivery pipe 13 passes along the loosely-fitting screw 16 on the valve spindle to a drainage pipe 21. When the outlet 18 is open, a washer 20 closes the passage past the screw 16. The valve is moved to open the passage 18 by pressure on a treadle 30 which acts through a crank 22; a balance arm 32 returns the valve. In a modification, more particularly for house-pipes, the screw is actuated bv a hand-wheel or handle.
