Abstract
6488. Milne, J., and O'Connor, H. March 28. Gas valves. - In a prepayment gas meter, the gas is cut off by a slide valve B connected to a lever F on a spindle G actuated by the coin-freed mechanism. The valve B is connected to a lift valve D, which cuts off the gas supply in case dirt or the like prevents the complete closing of the valve B. The valve D may be situated in the gas-inlet pipe so that the pressure of the gas helps to close it, or it may be arranged horizontally and connected to a horizontal lever on the spindle G.
