Abstract

Actuating.- Relates to clockwork - operated valve apparatus for supplying gas to a gas-ring, and to a second burner for lighting an ordinary fire simultaneously with the sounding of an alarm. The apparatus comprises an ordinary alarm clock fitted to a stand D carrying a frame E with a bunsen burner H and kettle-stand Z. A cock J, normally open, and a cock K, normally closed, are arranged with their operating-arms Q<1>, R' set on either side of the alarm lever C so that when the alarm operates, and the lever C moves in a counter-clockwise direction, the arm Q<1> is moved up as shown in dotted lines to supply the kettle burner H from the gas-supply pipe G through the partly tubular frame E. Simultaneously, gas passes through the open cock J to the fire-lighting burner; the further movement of the lever C moves the arm R<1> downwards to cut off the gas supply to the fire-lighting burner. Stop-cocks W, L and bypass pipes N' with cocks M, N are provided on the gas-supply pipes.
